As soon as you hear the opening bars and lyrics of “The Other Side”, the first single from Oslo-based Mia Berg’s debut album, you’re dropped right into her world of stasis and movement, and a whole lot of nostalgia. A shuffle of subdued guitar, woozy pedal steel and then Berg’s high and light vocals, singing “and I’m still waiting / to see the other side”. This is fragile music, yet made with a confidence found during a time when the world was spinning its wheels.
